Do we live better life than our forefathers?

Do we live better life than our forefathers?

Do we live better life than our forefathers? No. We do not live better life than our forefathers. Though, we are technologically advanced yet we are spiritually and morally inferior than our forefathers.
Today, we are blessed with many things which do not only give us comfort and access to far reaching or physically inaccessible things but also make us prosper in different fields.
Our forefathers were spiritually and psychologically stronger than us. They did not have access to modern technology but their thoughts, their missions; their inventions are still considered fresh and useful.
Even leaders of today’s world used to plagiarize policies of the leaders of ancient civilizations. Speeches, motivating techniques and penning down books are the by-products of our forefathers which are also practiced today.
To continue with this fact, it is worth-mentioning that we still prefer to quote Last prophet Muhammad, Hazrat Ali, Rumi, Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Aristotle, Pluto etc rather than post modernists of today’s world.
Apart from this, our forefathers were leading a peaceful, pollution free and simple life. They were socially, morally, spiritually, religiously, culturally, psychologically and physically better than us.
Whatever we are thinking of doing today, was their policies. After the commencement of visa policy in 1929 we imposed some rules on traveling from one country to another but since the creation of UNO,EU, SAARC, ASEAN , ECO, SCO, OIC, and many other regional organizations we come to know that prosperity and peace can never be achieved until we live together in one society through peaceful coexistence.

To continue with the physical aspect, it is also important to note that our forefathers were also physically strong. They never made themselves slave of machines. They always traveled thousands of miles through contingent walk which was very beneficial for health. This is what our doctors prescribe today that walk is the one of the most beneficial exercise for humans and in spite of having advanced and automatic vehicles most of the people prefer walk for  their better health.
Needless to mention that we have penetrated in the sky, landed over the moon, discovered many planets like super earth and made our life comfortable and largely advanced but prevalence of peace is still a dream for us. Our forefathers hugely enjoyed peace and soothe in their life. They were not having the same cut-throat competition that we do have today after industrial revolution.
No doubt, after the industrial revolution we started corrupting our socio-economic fabric slowly and gradually. It seems today that everyone is in competition with each other. Materialism has become our faith and corruption has become process. Everyone looks for short cut and personal vested interests. No one wants to sacrifice his/her life for the betterment of our society. Unavoidably, there are very few people who can be considered fully honest but dominance of corrupt and materialist lot never allowed them to work for change and betterment of spiritual superiority.
Someone has rightly said that knowledge always brings more responsibility. We know more than our forefathers knew. We are physically enjoying better life than our forefathers but mentally we are still savages.
Greediness and envoy have thrown us at the state of disparity. People are killing themselves in the name of caste, creed, color, language and religion. Concept of humanity is speedily disappearing from this world. Though, we have initiated many plans for stopping such happenings such as human rights commissions and non-governmental organizations but all are in vain.

In addition to it, we have become slaves of our needs, our desires, our wishes, our vested interests, our greedy intentions and egotism. This slavery has caused a number of challenges before us which are not easy to resolve. Atom bomb was also our desire to be militarily powerful in order to maintain hegemony over poor nations but we named it as our national interest. Hypocrisy is also one of the main factors which reasonably defines that we are not leading better life than our forefathers. Our forefathers were simple and sincere people. They were not hypocrites and conspirators like us. They always looked a corrupt and dishonest person of their society with red eye but we always praise corrupt people in our societies through different means; whether they would be in form of politics or bureaucracy.

To lead the topic towards conclusion that physically our life is full with comfort but mentally it is full with tensions and chaos. We are fighting with our soul. We are fighting for our evil desires and we are in search of peace. Hence, it can be concluded that we do not live better life than our forefathers.
