Check Reckless Driving
Pakistan Observer

It has been years to travel through the different
roads of Pakistan. What I have so far noticed that occurrence of
accidents on big Sharahs like Sharah E Faisal and M.A Jinnah road (Karachi),
Lawrence road and Muzzang Chungi (Lahore) is a common phenomena and turned out
to be a matter of every day. Thousands of lives have been lost in such
unprecedented incidents but no attention has been paid by the concerned
authorities to get it lessened. It will not be exaggeration to state that media
is also not giving the same degree of attention to this issue that it gives to
criminal and other petty issues. A road accident can only be prevented by
adopting organized and efficient transportation policy. Prior to this, it is
also necessary to build above cited roads wider and traffic free. Apart from
this, bike users, local buses, small vehicles, and heavy vehicles should also
have separate drawn lines on the road to ply with. Besides, those who do
not possess driving license should not be allowed to run any vehicle on the
roads. It is also duty of the government to provide driving licenses with
least formalities and official procedure. Last but not the least,
Schools, colleges, universities and different local or national based
institutions should also conduct regular seminars on different social issues
and guide our people from time to time. Remember, we Pakistanis cannot
bring change in our lives and country unless we intend to change.
